Altivo is a supporting character from The Road to El Dorado. Originally a war horse who belonged to Spanish captain Hernán Cortés, Altivo is a magnificent stallion. Lordly, yes. But also Haughty. Altivo would stand, silent and stoic as Cortes would preach of gold and glory to lead his men into the New World. Altivo was a disciplined warhorse, the pride of Spain's stables. He reluctantly joined Miguel and Tulio on their quest to find El Dorado after chasing after an apple that fell off of Cortés' ship during a violent storm. When they make it to El Dorado, Altivo would be treated like a god, just like Miguel and Tulio. He would devour bushels and bushels of golden apples by the dozens. He would eat a bounty of their harvest on golden platters, from bitter cactus to succulent melon. He would get drunk after he guzzled down their strongest wines by the casket. Beautiful maidens would even weave flowers into his mane and smiths would adorn his hooves in golden shoes. He would consider Miguel, Tulio and even Chel his bestest friends. At the end of the film he would join them on another adventure.
